Will Edd Sanders

MINDEN, LA -- Will Edd Sanders, age 92, passed away Monday evening, October 5, 2009. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9th at Lakeview Methodist Church Minden, LA and burial will immediately follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Leon Boggs, assisted by the Rev, Carol Heard, a niece of Mr. Sanders.

The family will receive friends Thursday October 8 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Rose-Neath's Minden Chapel. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Prince Sanders; two brothers, Wilbur and Wade Sanders; two sisters, Lora Dell Heard and Gene Barnett.

Mr. Sanders a native of Gaars Mill, LA was born November 13, 1916 and was a resident of Minden for 54 years. He faithfully attended Lakeview Methodist Church. He was a salesman for McCormick Spice Company for many years and later worked in the grocery industry. Mr. Sanders also owned and operated a Gulf Service Station in Minden. He enjoyed fishing at his camp on Lake Bistineau and working tirelessly in his backyard garden where he would tend up to 100 tomato plants during the summer. Mr. Sanders enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Whenever his children would visit, they always left with more than they arrived.

He is survived by four daughters; Sue Gruber and husband Warren of Minden; Anne Whittington and husband Joe of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Sherry Walker and husband Don of Phoenix, Arizona; Nancy Bradford and husband Pat of Shreveport; and son William Sanders and wife Maura of Waco, Texas. He is also survived by his sister Rosemary Baldridge and husband Bill; and a brother-in-law Jerry Heard, as well as seven grandchildren; Kelley Cordray, Vaughn Tonsman, Casie Jefcoat, Jennifer Banek, Jessica Sanders, Angela Wilson, and Chris Bradford and 12 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends to cherish his memory.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bradford, Pat Bradford, Todd Cordray, Warren Gruber, Cass Jefcoat, Vaughn Tonsman, Don Walker, and Joe Whittington. Honorary pallbearers: C.D. Cockrell, Bobby Cutrer, Tommy Hawthorne, Bob Parker, Howard Spillers and Elbert Stewart.
