Willard Monroe Arnold
Willard Monroe Arnold, 82, former resident of Toro, LA and resident of Orange since 1946, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Orange. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Reverend Daniel Rose officiating of Community Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with full military honors from the South East Texas Veterans Group. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the funeral home.
Mr. Arnold was born July 24, 1923 in Toro, LA, to James Elias and Callie (Savell) Arnold. He was a master carpenter who worked on many of the buildings in Orange, such as Lutcher Theater, The Stark Museum, First Savings and Loan Building, Wells Fargo Bank, Claybar Funeral Home and numerous Stark properties. His last big job was on the Nuclear Power Plant in Bay City, TX. He was a member of the carpenter's local in Orange and Houston. He attended Community Church in Orange and he served in the Army during World War II as a field medic.
Mr. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cleo Miller, Ida McDermott, Agnes McAllen and Hazel Moore.
He is survived by his loving wife Gladys Arnold of Orange; daughter, Debbie Arnold of Orange; grandchildren, Jimmy Weeks Jr. of Beaumont and Joe Caraway Jr. of Dewyville; grand daughter-in-law, Stephanie Weeks, great-grandchild Jimmy ``Trey'' Weeks III; brother, J.E. Arnold Jr. of Bridge City; sisters, Marie Mick of Bowling and Micky Holesvosky [sic Holesovsky] of Wharton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee Weeks Jr., Joe Lynn Caraway Jr., Joe Caraway Sr., Joe Ramirez, James Riley and Paul Webb. Honorary Pallbearers will be DeWitt Babb, Hulon Lakey and Dr. Harold Ray.
