GREEN

Mr. William Albert “W.A.” Green Jr., a native of Dunn, La., and a lifelong resident of Gautier, Miss., for more 55 years died peacefully at home on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007. He was born March 21, 1921, to the late Laura Williams Green and William Authur Green of Winnfield, La. He served on the Majuro Ship in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on Dec. 9, 1945. Throughout his life, W.A. touched many lives with his kind and gentle nature; he was a joy to his family and a sweetheart to Norvis, his beloved wife of 66 years.

He was preceded in death by a loving son, Lloyd Anthony Green of Gautier, Miss.; a sister, Alma Smith, of Winnfield, La.; and five brothers, Pete Green of Jonesboro, La.; Manuel Green of Sikes, La.; Earl Green, of Winnfield; Clayton Green, of Houston, Texas; and Doyle Green, of Meridian, Miss.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Norvis Bishop Green of Gautier; a daughter, Judy (John) Yorko of Daphne, Ala.; and three sons, Dennis (Connie) Green of Gautier; missionary son, David (Terri) Green of Taichung, Taiwan, and James Dwight (Brenda) Green of Ocean Springs, Miss.

W.A. also leaves behind a legacy of values instilled in integrity, honesty, hard work, charity and education to his 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a loving sister, Rachel Hall of Jonesboro, La., and three loyal brothers, Jesse (Catherine) Green of Shreveport, La.; Bill (Joyce) Green of Texarkana, Texas; and Roy Lee (Rose) Green of Augusta, Ga. His memory will also be cherished by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

W.A. was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gautier. He retired as a carpenter/joiner from Ingalls Shipbuilding in March 1982. He enjoyed gardening, especially his beloved flowers, after retirement.

The family would like to thank the VA and the Quality Hospice and especially Debbie and Linda for the special care provided to W.A. in the past several months that made his life more pleasant for him each day.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at 10 a.m. from The First Baptist Church of Gautier with the Rev. David Aultman officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service time.

Interment will be in Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier.
