William Allen Johnson Dies
Final rites for William Allen Johnson of Route 2, Dunn, 81-year-old retired Johnston County farmer, were conducted at the home Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. by Elder Lester Lee and Elder Luther Allen Johnson. Interment was in the Lee-Johnson family cemetery on Route 2, Dunn.
Mr. Johnson died at his home Monday at 11:15 p.m. He had been in poor health for some time and had suffered a series of strokes during recent weeks.
A native and lifelong resident of Johnston County, he was a son of the late Alcey and Betsy Tart Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Hickory Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Estelle Lee Johnson of Route 2, Dunn; three sons, Coy and Allen Johnson of Route 2, Dunn, and Corby Johnson of Route 3, Four Oaks; four daughters, Mrs. Iola Godwin, Mrs. Myrtle Utley and Mrs. Pearl Martin of Route 2, Dunn, and Mrs. Foy Herring of Route 3, Clinton; one brother, Cicero Johnson of Route 2, Benson; two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Parker and Betsy Johnson of Route 2, Benson; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
