William Alton ``Red'' Doyle Sr.
SHREVEPORT, LA -- A Mass of Christian Burial for William Alton ``Red'' Doyle, Sr., 96, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, at St. Michael The Archangel Chapel. Officiating will be Monsignor Carson LaCaze. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home.
Red was born November 1, 1911 in Jena, LA and passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at his residence. A resident of Shreveport, he was a member of The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans. Red was co-owner and operator of Standard Shoe Company. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Red served with Company K 179th Infantry Regiment 45th Division as a Squad Leader.
His wife, Frances Agnes DeFatta Doyle, daughter, Patricia Ann Doyle, parents, William Whatley Doyle and Lycia Ford Doyle, preceded Red in death. Survivors are his son, William A. Doyle, Jr. of Victorville, CA; grandchildren, Alicia Diane Doyle, William Alton Doyle, III and George Michael Doyle all of Monroe, LA, Ashley Doyle, Andrea Doyle and Katie Doyle all of Riverside, CA; great grandchildren, Cooper and Frances Doyle of Monroe, LA and Joshua Doyle of Thomasville, NC; daughter-in-law, Alice Doyle Hilderbrand of Longview, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved and adored. Red felt very blessed to be a part of the DeFatta family.
Honoring Red, as pallbearers will be William Alton Doyle, III, Salvatore DeFatta, Michael Campisi, Don Schwab, George Michael Doyle and Mark Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be G.W. ``Andy'' Anderson and Sammy DeFatta.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to his caregivers, Peggy Williams, Rose Watkins, Mary Valentine and Leon Chandler, for their kind and loving care shown to Red.
An active member of the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans until his health failed, Red was an inspiration to his family and friends. Granddad will be missed dearly. Thank you God for sharing him with us.
