Rites Held Here For Mr. Taunton

Funeral rites for William B. Taunton, one of Taylor County's oldest citizens, were held at 2 p.m. from the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with the Elder John Mangham officiating. Interment followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery with grandsons of the deceased serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Taunton was born in Taylor County, Oct. 5, 1875, son of the late Reeve and Polly Amerson Taunton. He was married to the former Miss Annie Theus and was a farmer but was forced to retire several years ago when he became almost blind.

He died at his home in Butler at 5:20 p.m., Thursday, after a long period of declining health.

Survivors include besides his wife, three daughters, Mrs. L. B. Locke of Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. J. M. Bone and Mrs. Archie Barfield of Butler; five sons, Grady Taunton, Horace Taunton and Howard Taunton of Butler, Tellie Taunton of Reynolds and Eulan Taunton of Atlanta. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Edwards Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
