William C. McCarty, 71, died Friday, May 7, 2004, in Jackson. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service today at Antioch Baptist Church in Brandon with burial in Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Morton. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home of Pearl is handling arrangements.
Mr. McCarty was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired from the Dept. of Parks and Recreation for the City of Pearl and at the time of his death was employed by Safe Security. He also worked the Christmas season for WalMart.
Survivors include his wife, Alice McCarty of Brandon; sons, William D. McCarty, Donny Joe McCarty and Todd McCarty, all of Pearl and Roger Dale McCarty of Brandon; daughters, Diana McCarty of Brandon, Darlene Ray of Walnut Grove and Patricia Ray of Pearl; stepson, David Anding, Jr.; step-daughter, Alicia Harper; brothers, Harry McCarty and Louie McCarty, both of Polkville; sister, Ruby Vanderslice of Bay Springs; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
