WILLIAM DOW SPRADLEY

William Dow Spradley, 81 born in Selma, Ala., Sept. 7, 1874, died early this morning at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Spradley had lived on the Coast for 40 years, making his home at 1117 36th Ave., Gulfport, for the past five years. He was employed by the L & N Railroad for 47 years as a maintenance foreman. After his retirement, he owned and operated the Olympia Cafe in Pass Christian and later ran the Spradley Grocery Store on 15th St., Gulfport. He was a member of Pass Christian Methodist Church.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Dora Dupuy Spradley, Gulfport; one son, Horace E. Spradley, Pass Christian; one daughter, Mrs. Allen Barksdale, Pass Christian; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Columbia Webb, Fontainebleau, Miss., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from Riemann's Gulfport chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Bob Salley, pastor of Pass Christian Methodist Church, and the Rev. Jeff Gibbs, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, Gulfport, officiaiting.

Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian.
