W. E. Howard Dies Suddenly In Laurel

LAUREL, Nov. 17 -- W. E. Howard, vice president of the Commercial National Bank here and one of the city's most prominent business men, died suddenly at his Laurel home Tuesday morning. He was 74.

Funeral services are to be conducted Wednesday afternoon from the First Presbyterian church with Dr. Grayson Tucker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Laurel's Hickory Grove cemetery.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. W. E. Howard; a son, W. E. (Billy) Howard, both of Laurel; one sister, Mrs. J. F. Cox, Orange Texas, and two grandchildren.

Born in Jasper county in 1878, he came her in 1904. A successful lumberman for years, he also became associated with both the furniture and hardware business.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian church and a church officer.
