Rev. W. E. Bennett

Funeral rites for the Rev. William E. Bennett, 58, of 3210 Gordon Ave., Monroe, were to be held at 2 p.m. today in the Fellowship Baptist Church, south of Monroe. The Rev. W. A. Bennett, Jr., the Rev. C. R. Johnson and the Rev. Charles Littleton were to officiate at the services.

Burial, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Monroe, was to follow in the Riverview Cemetery.

He died in the Glenwood Hospital Sunday morning.

Mr. Bennett, founder and pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church, was also owner and operator of Bennett's Service Station, 316 Harrison St., Monroe. He was a native of Neponset, Illinois, and had lived in Monroe since 1915. He was a Mason and past president of the state Gideons.

Mr. Bennett founded the Fellowship church as a mission of Monroe's Central Baptist church eight years ago.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Wilma P. Bennett, Monroe; one son, W. E. Bennett Jr., West Monroe; one daughter, [Mrs.] Frank McDonough, Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Walter A. Bennett, West Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Wayne McDonald, Southfield, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Donald Logan, Roy Jones, Roy Anderson, Norman Sheppard, Ellis Naron and Billy Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers were to be men of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
