W. E. McCarty of Alto Dies of Long Illness

William Ernest McCarty, 73, of Alto died early Sunday at his home after a long illness.

Funeral services for Mr. McCarty were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church of Wells with Rev. C. H. Haley, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Alto, officiating. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Wells under the direction of O. T. Allen & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. McCarty was a retired farmer and rancher, and was a life-long resident of Alto.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Maudell McCarty, three sons, William Luke McCarty, Wells, Troy Alton McCarty, Lufkin, and James Ernest McCarty, Nederland; four daughters, Mrs. Loretta Staton, and Mrs. Faye Hannah, Diboll, and Mrs. Dorskie Flowers, and Mrs. Mildred Glover, Wells; 29 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
