Mr. Billy Gordy

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Gordy, 64, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 1997, from the Ephesus Baptist Church. Rev. Kenneth Jones officiated. Interment was made in the Ephesus Baptist Cemetery, in Forest, MS.

Mr. Gordy passed away on Monday, July 7, 1997, at G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery V.A. Medical Center, following a short illness. Mr. Gordy had been a lifelong resident of the Ringgold community in Scott County, MS. He was a member and deacon of the Ephesus Baptist Church in Forest, MS. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping.

Survivors include his wife, Sibyl Gordy of Forest, MS; two daughters, Pam Thompson of Brandon, MS, and Janet Culpepper of Forest, MS; one brother, Milton Gordy of Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren, Luke Thompson, Lee Thompson, Jessica Culpepper, Jana Culpepper, Stephanie Culpepper, Becky Culpepper, Brooke Culpepper, and Benjamin Culpepper, and one great grandchild, Grant Hartman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Charles Emmons, Luther Dearing, Johnny Goss, David Allen, Wilson Wooten, Billy Joe Haralson, James Lewis Hollingsworth, and John McElroy.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the Ephesus Baptist Church.
