PRISONER CHARGES SENTENCE INVALID

After more than four years in jail, William Guy Emmons, prisoner at La Tuna, N. M., Federal prison today filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus, alleging that he is falsely held.

Emmons claims that his conviction is void and that he should be given his freedom. The case will be held tomorrow.

Emmons was convicted of violating the interstate automobile theft act.

He based his plea for release on alleged failure of the trial court to advise him that he could have had an attorney.
