Death of W. H. Logan

After an illness of about 2 weeks during which he suffered greatly, Mr. W. H. Logan passed away at his home in River Bend on last Thursday night about 9:30, and the remains were laid to rest Friday afternoon in Schultz Creek Cemetery by the side of his son, Wilson Logan, who preceded him to the grave by about 2 months.

Mr. W. H. Logan was one of the oldest residents of Bibb County, and was greatly loved and respected. He was a lawyer by profession and had his office in West Blocton, where he came daily to his work up to the time of his illness. He was a Confederate veteran, a member of the K. of P. lodge, also an ardent member of the Baptist church at Schultz Creek, where he joined over 50 years ago. He was nearly 82 years of age, and up to the time of his last illness seemed well and active. Mr. Logan was a loyal friend and citizen, always ready to help with any movement toward the betterment of the town or community in which he lived.

He was at one time Mayor of West Blocton, and at the time of his death held office in the local camp U.C.V., the members of which attended his funeral in a body, carrying at half-mast the Confederate flag he loved until the end. People from all over Bibb County, and some from Jefferson County, came to attend his funeral and pay the last tribute of respect.

The K. of P. had charge of the funeral, and Rev. H. F. ?Baucroft? conducted the service, while Dr. G. W. Randall a friend and brother K. of P. gave a fitting eulogy to the life of the deceased.

Mr. Logan is survived by his aged wife, five sons and three daughters, besides several brother and sisters. The floral tributes were elaborate and profuse.
