La. Insurance Official Dies At Winnfield
WINNFIELD, June 6 (Special). William J. Farber, a resident of Baton Rouge who was executive secretary of the Louisiana insurance rating commission, died today in a Winnfield hospital at 9:22 a.m. today.
Death followed an illness of several weeks.
Funeral services will be held at the Winnfield First Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday with Dr. J. Norris Palmer officiating, assisted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb of Winnfield. Burial will be in the Winnfield [Cemetery] under direction of the Southern Funeral Home.
Mr. Farber was a native of Pennsylvania. He attended Syracuse University and was a coach for a time at the university. He came to Louisiana in 1936 and since then had been in the Insurance Rating Commission.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ethel Wallace Farber, a native of Winnfield; one son, William Farber, Jr., Woodstock, Conn.; one daughter, Mrs. Gunnar Peterson of Hazel Crest, Ill.; two stepchildren, Dr. James W. Schonlau of Monroe and Mrs. J. B. Russell of Minden, and 10 grandchildren.
