WILLIAM JAY MERCER

William Jay Mercer, 58, Fort Necessity, died in a Monroe hospital Monday morning following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Winnsboro with the Rev. Tom Ratcliff officiating assisted by the Rev. Braswell.

Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Winnsboro under direction of First National Funeral Home.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Maudie Mercer, Jigger; two sons, W. J. Mercer, Tallulah; Willie Mercer, Fort Necessity; four daughters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Davis, Forest; Mrs. Eula Bea Wright, Jigger; Miss Frances Mercer, Jigger; Mrs. Ola Bea Griffith, Andrews, Tex.; a brother, Richard Mercer, Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Litton, Shreveport; Mrs. Pearlie McMillan, Epps; 17 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
