William James Machen
The funeral of William James Machen, 66, of Tallulah was held in the chapel of Crothers Funeral
Home with the Rev. Crawford Williams officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.
Mr. Machen died Dec. 20 in Vicksburg Hospital in Vicksburg, after a brief illness.
A native of Winnfield and a resident of Madison Parish for 52 years, Mr. Machen was a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Adeller Machen six sons, Bobby Machen, Washington, D. C., Curtis G. Machen,
Avon Park, Fla., Richard Machen and William J. Machen Jr., Slidell, Ronnie Joe Machen, Tallulah and
J. L. Thompson, Jesup, Ga.; five daughters, Mrs. Agnes Hutto, Miss Linda Machen and Miss Cherita Machen,
Tallulah, Mrs. Sandra Cheek, Slidell, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Calhoun, Springfield, Mo.; two sisters,
Mrs. Lola Flurry and Mrs. Eloise Thornton, Tallulah; 27 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Norwyn Johnson, Tommy Byrd, Walter Scott, Calvin Adams, Darryl Ellerbee and Ricky Lee.
Thursday, November [sic December] 28, 1978
