William Joe Thurmon

EL DORADO, AR -- Funeral services for William Joe Thurmon, 65, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2004 at Second Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Summerfield, LA. Dr. Dwain Miller an, Rev. Johnny Parrack and Rev. Kenneth Nutt will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mr. Thurmon passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born January 17, 1938 in Bernice, LA. He was a retired carpenter for Crumpler Home Improvement, a member and business representative of Local 1683 Carpenter's Union and a member of Second Baptist Church.

Mr. Thurmon was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Elza Thurmon; step-father, Minor Oglesby and brother, Jack Thurmon.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Whitley Thurmon of El Dorado, AR; mother, Mary Lou Thurmon Oglesby of Bernice, LA; brothers: Mack Thurmon and wife Mary Jo of Lillie, LA; Donald Thurmon and wife Louise of Monroe, LA; sisters: Jean Justen of El Dorado, AR; Alice Owen and husband Ed of El Dorado, AR and Frances Green and husband Leon of Emerson, AR; ten nephews, eleven nieces, a host of great nieces and nephews and special friends and caregivers: the family of Jesse and Robertine George, a special mom, Evelyn Greer and mother-in-law, Myrtle Skains Whitley.
