HUGHES, WILLIAM JOSEPH

William Joseph Hughes died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City.

Mr. Hughes was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Winnfield. He attended Jonesboro-Hodge High School in Jonesboro and received a degree in chemical engineering from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. He worked for Cities Service Refinery in Lake Charles, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries and was regional engineer for the Louisiana Health and Human Resources Department until his retirement.

Mr. Hughes was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, who leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jacqueline Jordan Hughes; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith Alan and Brenda Guidroz Hughes; three grandchildren, Brett, Garrett and Abby Hughes; two brothers, Charles Earl Hughes Jr. of Waskom, Texas, and John Edward Hughes and his wife Maxine Shankles Hughes of Jonesboro; and 16 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy A. Hughes; and parents, Charles Earl Hughes Sr. and Mattie Eva Jenkins Hughes.

Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. David Womack and the Rev. Carl Wheatly. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
