Services for William Lawrence ``Bill'' Willis were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Winnfield, with Revs. Lindsey Burns and Clovis Sturdivant officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield.
Mr. Willis, age 70 of Winnfield, died Friday, January 18, 2002 at Longleaf Nursing Home in Ruston. He was a native of Trout, LA, a member of First Baptist Church and Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class; Winnfield Kiwanis Club; Winn Parish Retired Teachers Association; graduate of LA Tech with a Masters degree from Northeast University plus 30 hours at Northwestern Louisiana State University; a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a teacher, coach and principal at Sikes High School.
Survivors are his wife, Olive Ann Willis of Winnfield, LA; one son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence James "Larry" and Kaye Willis of Sikes, LA; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura Ann and Phillip Flurry of Ruston, LA; one sister, Valrie [sic Valerie] Kimbell of Tallulah, LA; three grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth Willis, Lacy Alexis Flurry and Lacey Elizabeth Willis; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: David Chop, Gary Higginbotham, Mickey Parker, Lamar Tarver, Delbert Wilbanks and Steve Bates.
Honorary Pallbearers were: Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class.
