      Lucinda L. Mecom, now wife of Columbus Ruffin, stated that her father William Mecom died on 10 April 1862 leaving land, horses, cattle, and personnal property. He left heirs: the Petitioner, and her brother Jasper B. Mecom, a minor, issue of decedent by Bridget Mecom, also deceased. Inventory showed that Mecom died owning Lot #7, S15, T15, R3E, containing 56 08/100 acres appraised at $841.20. Appraisers were William B. Rose and R. D. Blossman, Jr., Wits: Robert Ray and R. H. Earnest. Inventory dated 17 Nov. 1862. Allen B. Wood became the tutor to the minor.

1) Lucinda Mecom b. 1837 d. md. 1) to Columbus Ruffin; md. 2) in Ou. Par. on____June 1863, to James M. Taylor, C. L. Ruffin served as a crpl and pvt. in Co. D, 17th La. Inf., having enl. on 28 Sept. 1861, at Camp Moore; roll for Sept. and Oct. 1862 showed him sick in Caldwell Par; died 26 Nov. 1862 in Caldwell Par., La.
2) William Wesley Mecom b. ca. 1840
3) Larkin T. Mecom b. 1844, served as a pvt. in Co. D, 17th La Inf., CSA, enl. 29 Sept. 1861 at Camp Moore. d. 22 Mar. 1862, at Corinth, Mississippi.
4) Jasper B. Mecom b. 1846.
