W.M. `Bill' Scott
William M. ``Bill'' Scott, 96, of Ridgeland and formerly a longtime resident of McComb, died Sept. 21, 2004, at his residence in Ridgeland.
Visitation is 5 to 7 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Friday in Hollywood Cemetery, with the Rev. David McIntosh officiating.
Mr. Scott was born Aug. 20, 1908, in Fernwood. He was the son of Ennette Scott Sr. and Bertha Hermonn Scott.
He was retired as a Texaco Service Station owner in McComb. His family said, ``He unselfishly gave ``Service witha Smile'' and believed in treating everyone with great dignity. He was a gentle man, respected by everyone.'' During his residency in McComb, he was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he was a charter member of the Men's Club. He was active in the Masons and the Shriners.
Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Laverne Williams Scott; one son, Billy Scott of Meridian; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Ruby Middleton Scott of Ridgeland; one son, Ken Barlow and his wife Delores of Ridgeland; one daughter, Treva Ann Elsworth of Belton, Texas; one brother, Ennette Scott Jr. of Whitesboro, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Scott of Biloxi; a niece, Margie Hermonn; seven grandchildren, Dennis Scott, Shelby Pierce, Dee Dee Moore, Peggy Wyatt, Wayne Wyatt, Kelly Wyatt and Jenny Sankey; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
