Final Rites For Mr. William M. Keyes At West Blocton
William Michael Keyes, 62, 2410 Arlington Avenue, Birmingham, passed
away February 22nd, in a Birmingham hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lyda Morse Keyes; three daughters, Mrs.
Elizabeth Harper of Anniston; Mrs. Annette Harris of Notasulga and Mrs.
Elleanor Grimes of Bessemer; two brothers, J. J. Keyes and Alfred S. Keyes, both
of West Blocton; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday February 24th at Johns Ridout's
West Chapel. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Blocton.
Active pallbearers were Jack Keyes, Michael Keyes, James Watts, William
Brown, Joel King, Jr., and Royce Brown. Honorary pallbearers were employees
of Fontain Truck Equipment Company of Tarrant.
Mr. Keyes was a lifelong resident of West Blocton, having been employed for
many years by the Blocton Ice Company and was also an employee of Black
Diamond Coal Mining Company. He moved from here to Birmingham about ten
years ago.
