William Eidson
William Oscar ‘Ed’ Eidson, 63, of Lucedale, died Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with interment in Shady Grove Cemetery. Dr. Wade Ivey and Rev. Breaux Tageant will officiate.
Ed graduated from Meridian High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a teacher and coach at Lucedale Middle School. Ed was personnel director for International Logistics and Frier Marine in Houma, La., and Eastern Shipbuilding Group in Panama City, Fla.
He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Christ Baptist Church in Houma, La., and most recently the Hurley Baptist Church.
Ed was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and softball. His greatest joy and pleasure in life was his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Brownlee Williamson; father, Elmer Eidson; and brothers, Raymond Eidson and Elmer Eidson, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Shoemaker Eidson of Lucedale; sons, Joseph William (Kimberly) Eidson of Many, La., and Matthew Lee (Cassidy) Eidson of Panama City, Fla.; grandchildren, Hannah Annette Eidson, Luke Eidson, Joseph Eidson, Madison Eileen Eidson, Gaige Mathew Eidson and Remmi Rose Eidson; sisters, Rachel E. Broadway of Laurel and Kaye E. (Earl) Mitchell of Northport, Ala.; brothers, Charles (Janet) Eidson of New Albany and Mark Webb of Laurel; mother-in-law, Annette Brooks; sister-in-law, Beth Dean; and brother-in-law, Les (Pam) Shoemaker, all of Lucedale; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Mitchell, Michael Eidson, Kyle Eidson, Charles Eidson, Walt Weaver, Greg Havard and Lance Ganey.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Hurley Baptist Church or M. D. Anderson Cancer Research Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Arrangements are by George County Funeral Home in Lucedale.
