William Perry Whitten
April 25, 1947 – February 23, 2015

William Perry Whitten, Pops to most everyone who knew him, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Thibodeaux Regional Medical Center after a two month stubborn battle. Perry was 67 years old.

Perry leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 44 years, Gloria Budd Whitten of Amelia; one daughter, Jeannie Whitten of Patterson; two sons, Ted Matherne and his fiancé, Monica Broussard, of Bayou Vista, and Tobie Matherne and his wife, Heather, of Wisconsin; like-a-son, Gary Driskell; ten grandchildren, William “Liam”, Caleb, Tyler, Logan, Carter, Lee, Jazmine, Blayke, Brooke, and Courtney; one sister, Alice Sue Redich and one brother, Michael Craig Whitten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marie Whitten, and one brother, Robert Whitten.

Perry was a proud United State Marine, having served in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. A former Commander of the American Legion and a member of the Marine Cor. League, Perry was dedicated to his country. Perry was a devoted husband and father, having devoted his life to his family.

The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 6pm to 10pm and on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 9am until time of services at 11am at Hargrave Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery with the East St. Mary Veteran Funeral Squad rendering military honors.
