W. T. [sic P.] Carter Rites to Be Held Today
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today for William T. [sic P.] Carter, 41, who died unexpectedly at 10:30 a.m. yesterday apparently from a heart attack.
Mr. Carter, who resided at 2744 Caperton St., died as he was being admitted to a local hospital for treatment of a heart condition.
Services will be held at the Osborn Funeral Home chapel with Dr. D. L. Dykes, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Park Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be W. A. Tysom, Wilber Eberhard, Ed Hitcher, J. A. Sherman, Ed Brando and Neland Phelps. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Carter's fellow employes of the United Gas Corporation.
Mr. Carter, a native of Coushatta, La., had been employed by United Gas since 1947. Since 1953 he had worked in the right-of-way department of the firm's general office.
Mr. Carter was a graduate of Coushatta High School and also attended Louisiana State University.
During World War II he served as a pilot with the rank of second lieutenant.
Mr. Carter is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dortha Fowler Carter; one son, Thomas Scott Carter, and one brother, John J. Carter, all of Shreveport.
