William P. Corley Dies at Age of 85
William Polk Corley, 85, prominent Rapides parish farmer and cattleman, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at his residence, Rt. 2, Alexandria. He was a native of Grant Parish.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. A. E. Edmonds, Shreveport, Mrs. Ben Windham, Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. J. S. Slocum, Alexandria, and Mrs. M. A. Norcross, Lansdowne Pa.; six brothers, I. A. Corley, Mansfield, Dr. W. B. Corley, Alexandria, J. M. Corely [sic Corley], Little Rock, Ark., J. L. Corley, Winnfield, Elijah Corley, Oakdale, and C. R. Corley, Lake Charles; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Odum, Winnfield, Mrs. M. L. Gates and Mrs. William Sanderson, both of Oakdale, Mrs. E. M. Scarbrough, Lake Charles; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Corley was an active member and a deacon of the Poland Baptist church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the chapel of Hix[s]on Bros. Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
