W. R. James Dies; Burial At Zion Hill
Funeral services for William R. James, 62, of Winnfield, were
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel
here with the Rev. Jack Jones officiating.
Burial was in the Zion Hill Cemetery.
Mr. James died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 1974 in a
local hospital after a short illness.
Mr. James was a member of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church
and was a butcher in several meat markets here for many years.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sarah James of Winnfield;
four daughters, Mrs. L. C. Curry of Baker, Mrs. Clayton Calhoun
of Athens, Ala., Mrs. Edward Bramlet of Bossier City, and Mrs.
Jerry Davidson of Montgomery; five brothers, the Rev. Willie
James of Sikes, Walter James of Dodson, Roy James of Winnfield,
Ray James of Tannehill, and Melvin James of Winnfield; four
sisters, Mrs. Essie Smith of Winnsboro, Mrs. H. D. Jordan of
Winnfield, Mrs. Caldwell Perdue of Shreveport; and eight
grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Benny James, James Jordan, Jerry Pardue,
Roy James Jr., Charlie James, Jesse James.
