William Robert Mounger
William Robert Mounger, age 89, formerly of Live Oak, FL passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, FL. He was born in Ft. Worth, TX. He earned a bachelor degree in Aeronautical Engineering and economics from Colorado University and a master's degree in English Literature from Farleigh Dickenson University in New Jersey. While at Colorado University he met his wife, Mary Alice Bunting and they were married the day after her graduation. William's career took him from the Navy, Lt. J.G. in WWII, Aeronautical engineer in Ft. Worth, to Merchandizing Manager of Anderson Clayton and Company, Commercial Trade on Wall Street. He was sent to Brazil for coffee trading, then to N.Y. City.
In 1971 the family moved to Suwanee County where William bought a poultry and cattle farm. Bill and his family loved getting away from the big city life and constant world travel. His last move was selling the farm and enjoying leisure travels, golf, and reading.
He was active in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1977 Rotary President, Suwannee County Fair Board, Suwannee County Hospital Board, Economic Council and nine years on the Av-Med Santa Fe Health Care Boards in Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Mounger, Gainesville; one son, John Victor Mounger, Bushnell, FL; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hindman, Rancho PalosVerdes, CA; Leslie Peebles McCauley, Gainesville; seven grandchildren ten greatgrandchildren.
Memorial services were held Monday, April 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Live Oak, FL.
