William Robert Whatley

ALBANY -- William Robert ``Bob'' Whatley Jr., 82, 713 Summit Dr., died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Lee County Health Care.

The funeral service will be today 11 AM at Walden Chapel of the First United Methodist Church with interment in Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Mike McAfee and Rev. Scott Hagen officiating.

A native of Taylor County, Mr. Whatley had lived in Albany for the past 52 years. He was retired from the Engineering Department at WG&L. He was a member of First Untied Methodist Church, the Hudson Malone Sunday School Class were he served as secretary for a number of years. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Albany where he was Exchangite of the year in 1983. Mr. Whatley served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors. He loved to work in his yard in which he took great pride in.

Survivors include his wife Jenelle T. Whatley, Albany; son, William Robert Whatley III and his wife Nancy Hurndon, Lee County; a daughter, Debbie Purvis and her husband Fred, Cook County; and 5 grandsons, William Travis Whatley, Samuel James Whatley, David Ross Purvis, Daniel Blake Purvis, Richard Ryan Purvis.
