Mr. Johnston was born on March 3, 1926 in Sikes, LA and left his home the evening of January 19, 2008. He leaves with us his childhood stories and Navy adventures. The wonderful memories of a safe, loving home with a neighborhood of good people we still call friends after almost 50 years. All because of his vision of the house on the hill. Upon retiring from sales in the electrical supply industry, he made his home on the lake, spending each fall in the woods looking for that big buck.

Leaving his mark on our hearts is his wife of more than 60 years, Bea Johnston; daughter, Sharon and husband Jack, their children and grandchildren Jason and wife Gina Strickland and children, Dylan, Sutton and Olivia; Trevor Culpepper; Grant and husband Shawn Rourke and children, Cassidy, Miller and Kiley. Daughter Shirley and husband Billy Fraser and their sons Richard, Jonathan and James Fraser all of Shreveport, LA. Son, Bill and wife Marti Johnston and their daughters Alexandra and Abigail Johnston of Monroe, LA. Brother, Glen and wife Jean Johnston of West Monroe, LA. Sister-in-laws, Dot Smith of West Monroe, Mary and husband Lewis Smith of Manor, TX and Florine Johnston of High Point, NC. Mother-in-law Lucille Smith of Shreveport, brother-in-law Harry P. Smith of Balch Springs, TX and one special nephew Donald whom he thought of as a son and wife Brenda Johnston, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Johnston and Waymon Johnston, Sr., infant daughter Lydia Marie, brothers Waymon, Jr and Dalton Johnston. Father-in-law Myrden Marchwell Smith.

Cancer may have slowed his body and taken his life but it never took his sense of humor.
