William T. Craven, Sr.
NEWTON -- Services for William T. (Tom) Craven, Sr., 72, who died Feb. 20, 2005, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, were held Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with burial in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Steve Robinson and James Galloway officiated. James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Craven retired with the Mississippi State Highway Department. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for over 40 years where he served as a deacon and a member of Cedar Grove gospel singers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.C. Craven and Annie Ruth Gardner Craven and one sister, Doris Evan Craven.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Eleanor Emmons Craven of Lawrence; three sons, William Thomas Craven, Jr. of Meridian, Paul Wayne Craven of Lawrence and Robert Chris Craven of Newton; two daughters, Tonya Sykes of Lawrence and Suzanne Campbell of Cumming, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tommy Craven, Paul Craven, Chris Craven, Stacey Sykes, Stephen Sykes, Morgan Craven, Larry Campbell and William Emmons. Honorary pallbearers were Grady Sykes, Mac Chamblee and Charles Maske.
