William Varnell Dies at Age 60
William Varnell, 60, of Pineville died at 7:10 a.m. today in Rapides General Hospital. He was a native of Columbia and was for 17 years a cook at Pinecrest State School.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vesthra Lofton Varnell of Pineville; a son, Fred E. Varnell of San Antonio, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Billie Jean Kitchell of Ball and Mrs. Peggie Joan Rosatto of Tioga; four brother[s], Homer Varnell, Frank Varnell, Jimmy Varnell and Doc Varnell, all of Columbia, and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Hixson Bros., Pineville, with Rev. Guy Allen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
