William W. Freeman Sr.

William W. Freeman Sr., 78, of Summit, died of heart failure Oct. 3, 2000, at his residence.

Visitation is 6-9 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, and 11 a.m. Thursday until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Walter Sisco will officiate. Burial will be at Montgomery Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Mr. Freeman was born Feb. 5 1922, in Summit. He was the son of Wren Freeman and Estelle Norton Freeman.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Europe during World War II.

Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy Lillie; one grandson, Tony Lillie; and a stepgranddaughter, Gwen Wilson Lagille.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Etta Freeman of Summit; one son and daughter-in-law, William W. Freeman Jr. and Jimmie Freeman of Summit; one daughter and son-in-law, Etta Ruth and Kenneth Johnson of Summit; one stepson and wife, Deanon and Elaine Cleveland of Denham Springs, La.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Lyndell and Bob Swan of Gillsburg and Dollie D.and Paul Wilson of Jayess; three brothers, Jack Freeman of Walker, La., and Mike and Donald Freeman, both of Summit; five sisters, Leonal Chisolm and Bobbie Carter, both of Walker, Inez Brown of Albany, La., Geneva Muirhead of Pearl and Shirley Chisholm of Denham Springs; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a number of stepgrandchildren, other relatives and friends.
