Willis Hudson Whatley
OGLETHORPE, Ga. -- Willis Hudson Whatley, 73, of Oglethorpe, died Monday at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Whitewater Baptist Church, Oglethorpe, with burial in Andersonville National Cemetery, according to Watson-Mathews Funeral Home, Montezuma, Ga.
Mr. Whatley was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Macon County, son of Thomas David and Henrietta Jones Whatley. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a retired soil conservation technician with the United States Department of Agriculture. He was a member of Whitewater Baptist Church, a deacon emeritus, chairman of the building committee, member of the brotherhood, and was on the board of trustees of the Georgia Baptist Children's Home in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Alva Bolin Whatley; a daughter, Kathy W. Cockerham of Augusta, Ga.; and a sister, Anita Whatley Screws of Fayetteville, Ga.
