Wilma Barron Spence
Wilma Barron Spence, 86, of Memphis, Tenn., died Jan. 19, 2003, at her residence.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb. Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hollywood Cemetery, with Dr. David Millican officiating.
Mrs. Spence was born Dec. 1, 1916, in Pike County. She was the daughter of John Floyd Barron and Ellen Wilson Barron.
She was a member of Underwood United Methodist Church in Memphis, where she was active in the Faithbuilder's Sunday School Class and the W.S.C.S. for years until her health failed. She served in her neighborhood and belonged to community associations. She was a former member of Tangipahoa Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Edward Spence; a daughter, Billie Spence Ost; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin Barron and Elsie Moak Barron Williams; and a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine Barron and George W. Edwards.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Malcolm and Stephen Ost, and Lisa Ost Baxter, all of Memphis; a great-granddaughter, Brandi Baxter; three nieces, Neva Edwards Swan of Salem, Ore., Joyce Edwards Fenn of Houston, Texas, and Jeannine Barron McDaniel Nunnery of Magnolia; one nephew, George Ronald Edwards of Las Vegas; a cherished grandniece, Jennifer Barron Swan of Salem; special relatives, Elgin ``Ted'' and Gertrude Tuminello Spence of Memphis and Dickey Fenn of Houston; and special friends, Clare Pascal of Memphis and Lois Jackson of McComb.
Pallbearers will be Dickey Fenn, Ron Edwards, Ted Spence, Dub Spence, Bobby McDaniel, Conrad Mord and Mike McDaniel.
