Wilson L. Smith

Funeral services for Wilson L. Smith, 89, of Dallas, formerly of Roscoe, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the Roscoe Church of Christ with John Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Mr. Smith died Sunday, July 15, 2007, in Dallas.

He was born on May 11, 1918 in Ballinger to William Lester and Arlie Evelyn Smith. He married Dorotha Mae Ford on Jan. 6, 1940 in Roscoe.

He had lived in Roscoe since 1919 until moving to Dallas in 2003. He was a lifelong farmer and lifelong member of Roscoe Church of Christ. He was past director and manager of Roscoe Co-op Gin for 30 years, a 40-year member of the Roscoe Lions Club and a 35-year member of the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Dorotha Smith of Dallas; two daughters, Barbara Smith O'Neil and husband Pete of Dallas and Stacey Smith Chaney of Dallas; one son, Jimmy Wilson Smith and wife Candy of Plano; two sisters, Pauline Heine of Dallas and Helen Munroe of Plainview; eight grandchildren; and eight-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Smith and David Smith, and by a sister, Alma Kreidel.

Pallbearers will be Larry Flores, Randall Smith, Jason Freeman, Joe Brad McVey, Hershel McDonald, Don Richburg, Wade McLeod and Don Martin.

SWEETWATER -- Wilson L. Smith, 89, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, in Dallas. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roscoe Church of Church with burial in Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements are by McCoy Funeral Home.
