Winfred Lee ``Pug'' Tully
Winfred Lee (Pug) Tully, R. Ph., died unexpectedly at his home in Fannett on Wednesday, September 1, 2004. Winfred was born on August 19, 1941 to Louis Winfred (Beans) and Willie Lee Tully. After graduating from Fannett High School, he attended the University of Houston where he graduated with a degree in Pharmaceutical Science.
In 1964, he married Ann Morgan of Silsbee. Longtime residents of Beaumont, they moved to Fannett seven years ago. Pug has served as a pharmacist at Smith Drugs, South Park Pharmacy, and at Baptist and Park Place Hospitals. He was employed by Christus St. Elizabethis in Beaumont. He was a member of Gulf Coast Pharmaceutical Association where he served on various committees.
He will be remembered most as a devoted and caring husband and father, a fun and loving grandfather and a terrific friend. Always available to `fix' whatever was broken, Pug repaired everything from lawnmowers to skinned knees. As a host to many family and friends on holidays, Sunday dinners and many other occasions, his quick wit, ready smile, and warm countenance will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Loye Gene. He is survived by his wife, Ann Morgan Tully of Fannett; sons, Troy Tully and his wife Constance of Beaumont, and Kyle Tully and his wife Amanda of Fannett; daughter, Kim Joosten and her husband Todd of Beaumont; brothers, Roy Tully and his wife Joycelyn of Winnie, and Edward ``Mack'' Tully of Galveston; sister, Charlotte Hidalgo and her husband R. A. of Fannett; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, and Jacob Joosten, Mitchell and Matthew Tully, Leslie Foy, and grandson-to-be, Gage Tully.
Pug Tully, alias ``Lawn Mower Man'' is not gone! Super heroes don't die, they lie in wait to serve again. We are talking about a man who could dance like Fred Astaire and the Rubber Chicken Man, and who could leap a porch rail with a single ``Bak-A-Wa-Ka!''
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with Rev. Jim Bass officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, September 3, 2004 beginning at 5:00 PM at the mortuary. Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Brent, John Callahan, Paul Kiker, Lawrence Wingate, Victor Slack, Mike Sanchez, Brian Tully and Mitchell Tully.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church Landscaping Fund, P.O. Box 7410, Beaumont, Texas 77726.
