BATES, WINNIE DAY WHITTINGTON

Died 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994, at Capital Nursing Home. She was 83, a longtime resident of Slaughter and a native of Gloster, Miss. She was a homemaker.

Visiting at Brown Funeral Home, Gloster, Miss., 10 a.m. until religious services at 3 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Carl Rigby. Interment in the New Hope Cemetery.

Survived by a daughter, Hazel Binning, Baton Rouge; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Virginia Whittington, Baton Rouge, Douglas Whittington, Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Day and Herman Day, both of Baton Rouge; and two sisters, Ruthie Wickwire, Baton Rouge, Ina Jane Brown, Gloster, Miss.

Preceded in death by first husband, Dale A. Whittington; second husband, Willie Bates; parents, Jonathan and Fannie Day; a sister, Helen Temple; and a daughter, Willimenia Jones.

Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
