Winnie Pearl Haney
April 30, 1914 - April 8, 2014

Winnie Pearl Carter Haney passed from this life and into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in Longview, Texas, at the age of ninety-nine years, eleven months, and eight days. She was born April 30, 1914, to Allen D. Carter and Sarah Virginia Adams Carter in Kemp, Texas, located in Kaufman County. Most of her life was spent in Panola County but she had lived in Longview, Texas, for twenty-six years at the time of her death.

Winnie Carter was married to Cleveland Harrison Haney on August 26, 1928. Together they shared sixty-six years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1994.

Mrs. Haney spent her life as a devoted wife and the loving mother of four children. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, growing flowers in her yard, and having all her family together for any occasion. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Spring Hill First Baptist Church in Longview.

Mrs. Haney was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Dovie Jo McDaniel and son-in-law, Harvey; one son, Carol Jack Haney and wife Charlette; son-in-law, Joe Hudman; granddaughter, Sandra Kay Hudman; two great grandsons, Eric McDaniel and Robert Hodges; and one great, great, granddaughter, Alyssia Poss.

Those children left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Betty Sue Hudman of Longview and one son, Allen Glenn Haney and his wife, Margaret, also of Longview.

Mrs. Haney is survived by eleven grandchildren: JoAnn Swindull and husband Mickey of Silver Spring, Maryland; Linda Neely and husband Kenneth of Athens, Texas; Jerry McDaniel, Ty McDaniel and wife Lori of Carthage, Texas; Wayne Haney and wife Leslie of Longview, Texas; Greg Haney and wife Stephanie of Richardson, Texas; Melinda Whitehurst and husband Larry, Jane Hughes and husband Tommy, Cindy Adams and husband Matt all of Longview, Texas; David Haney and wife Pam of White Oak, Texas and Toni Hall of Hallsville, Texas.

“Mammie” Haney also leaves behind twenty-nine great grandchildren, thirty-five great, great grandchildren and one great, great, great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Winnie Haney will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Carthage, Texas, on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Wayne Spanhanks officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Cleve, at the Antioch Cemetery in Carthage, Texas. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Pallbearers for the funeral will include Shane Whitehurst, Jeremy Whitehurst, David Haney, Greg Haney, Steven Ivy, and Jonathan Hodges.
