Winona Bryant

Winona ``Winnie'' Leah Walker Bechtol Bryant, died on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 83 years of age. She was a U.S. Marine in WWII, one of our ``Greatest Generation''. She made her contribution to her country through her children. She mothered seventeen grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren, a President of the United States Jaycees, two sons that served honorably in the Armed Services, a successful local businessman, a nationally known comedian that became a regular on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, and a daughter and son-in-law that became her caretaker and trusted friends for the best years of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Henry D. Walker and her mother, Malanda Taylor Walker; her sister, Doris Poulin; her brothers, Calvin Walker, R.V. Walker, Ray Walker, Preston Walker, and O.D. Walker; and her grandson, Lawrence W. Bryant, II. She was the last of the immediate family line of the Ocean Springs, Gulfport Walkers.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Dixie Lynn Smith and her husband Eual of Saucier; her sons, J. Terryl ``T. Bubba'' Bechtol and his wife Tarsha Bechtol of Pensacola, FL, Larry Bryant of Gulfport, Lee Bryant and his wife Dolores ``Chi Chi'' of Gulfport, and Charles Bryant of Gulfport and her Alabama Baby's.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007 from 6-8pm at THE RIEMANN FAMILY'S Gulf Coast Funeral Home, Three Rivers Road Chapel in Gulfport. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 9:00am in the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport.
