Brother of Goodpine Man Killed in War

Mr. and Mrs. Reese Woods of Liberty Hill, Bienville parish, received a message from the War Department, December 19, advising them that their son, Sergeant Woodrow W. Woods, 25, was killed in action in Geramny [sic Germany] on December 6.

Sgt. Woods was attached to a tank destroyer battalion, with the Fifth Armored Division, known as the Victory Division of General Courtney H. Hodges, First Army.

He entered the servcie [sic service] on April 4, 1941, and received his basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was assigned to the destroyer battalion in July, 1941. Before going overseas in February, 1944, he received training at Camp Livingston, La., Camp Hood, Texas, and Camp Gordon Johnson, Florida. His first combat duty was with the First Army in the St. Lo drive August 1, 1944.

Sgt. Woods is survived by his parents and one brother, George E. Woods, of Goodpine, La.
