Zack J. Blackwell

Zack J. Blackwell, 79, a resident of Rt. 1, Box 307, Canal Road, Gulfport, died Monday at 12:45 p.m. at Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for four days.

Mr. Blackwell, a retired dairy farmer, was born May 3, 1892, in Meridian. He had been a resident of Canal Road for 53 years. He was a member and deacon of the New Hope Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lina Spradley Blackwell, Gulfport; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Breland, Mrs. Hazel Flowers, Mrs. Della McDaniels, Gulfport; two sons, Francis Blackwell, San Pablo, Calif.; and Hubert Blackwell, Gulfport; two sisters, Mrs. Della McGuire, Dayton, Tex.; and Mrs. Ida Stephenson, Pass Christian; 33 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport after 6 o'clock this evening and also on Wednesday.

The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Estes, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Albert Bond. Interment will be in the Coalville Cemetery.
