Zue Stewart Harris

GREENSBORO -- Mrs. Zue Stewart Harris, 86, of Greensboro, departed from this life Friday, November 7, 2008, at Brighton Gardens.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 10, at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Jim Cates officiating.

Born June 10, 1922, in West Blocton, Alabama, to the late George and Rebecca Stewart, Mrs. Harris was of the Baptist faith and was a Red Cross Volunteer. She was a real estate agent licensed in the states of North Carolina, Virginia, New York, and Florida, and later became a real estate broker, opening her own real estate company in Georgia. Mrs. Harris was the first woman elected to City Council in Jasper, Georgia.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, William Davis Harris, Sr.; children, Barbara H. Johnson of Greensboro; William Davis Harris, Jr., Susan Harris Mouw of Iowa, and Elizabeth M. Harris of Greensboro; grandchildren, Lara Johnson Bibey of Reidsville, Scott F. Johnson of Greensboro, Rebecca Pearl Harris of Fairfax, Virginia, Benjamin Davis Harris of Seaside, Oregon; great-grandchildren, Brandon Bibey of Reidsville and Avery Johnson of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the residence, 4819-A Tower Road in Greensboro.

Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel has the honor of assisting the Harris family with arrangements.
