S. S. Gregory Jr. Killed.

On last Saturday the 9th, Aron Manly shot and instantly killed S. S. Gregory, Jr., at the Locks and Dams, near Riverton, in ward one. It seems that there was a misunderstanding between the two young men that had existed for some time. when they met Saturday, old troubles were renewed with the above results. Both the young men are prominently connected and the tragedy is a profound shock to the community. After the shooting, Manly come to Columbia and gave himsef up to Sheriff McClananhan, refusing to make any statement concerning the affair and is still in jail here awaiting the action of the courts. H. T. Hair Esq., of the local bar has been retained by the defence.

Mr. Gregory's remains were laid to rest on Sunday at 11 o'clock at old Mt. Pleasant cemetery in the presence of a large concurse of relatives and friends.
