Miss Virginia Emmons Becomes The Bride Of Stanley H. Hathorn

ANGUILLA -- On Thursday afternoon the Anguilla Baptist Church was the scene of the marriage of Miss Virginia Lee Emmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Emmons of Newton and Stanley Hamilton Hathorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hoye Hathorn of Louisville.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a pale pink silk shunlung suit with matching accessories. She carried a bouquet of white carnations centered with an orchid.

Ivy leaves encircled the bases of wrought iron candelabra, which held long white tapers and were on either side of the rostrum.

Miss Cheryl Ann Emmons was her sister's maid of honor. She wore a beige suit and carried a bouquet of pink carnations.

Hoye Hathorn was his son's best man.

Ushers for the wedding were Jerry Sullivan and Douglas Arnold. Preceding the ceremony the candles were lighted by Ronnie and Billy Hathorn, cousins of the groom.

Mrs. Emmons, mother of the bride chose a dress of beige silk with matching accessories, and wore a corsage of pink carnations.

The groom's mother wore a blue ensemble and a corsage of white carnations.

A reception following the ceremony was given by Mrs. R. J. Powell and Mrs. Floyd Johnson, cousins of the bride. Assisting were Mrs. Frank Keith, Mrs. H. B. Goodman, and Mrs. Tom Ewing. Miss Janice Hathorn, sister of the groom, presided at the guest book.

The bride's table was overlaid with a white organdy cloth. A centerpiece of pink carnations and white stock was arranged in a branch candelabra. The wedding cake was served from one end of the table by Mrs. Dan McKay. Miss Janice Keith served punch from the other end of the table. The girls assisting in the serving were Nancy Martin, Ruby Doris White, and Sally Hunter.

The couple will be at home in Anguilla where they both hold teaching positions.
