FAMILY REUNION IS GIVEN FOR WINN RESIDENT
Jonesboro, June 21 (Special). -- The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the Rev. L. D. Emmons entertained him on his 77th birthday with a family reunion.
The Rev. Emmons was born in Leak[e] county, Miss., and came to Louisiana at the age of three. His family settled in Ward 7 of Winn parish, near Sikes, and he has resided in the ward continuously since that time with the exception of two years. For the past 50 years the Rev. Emmons has been a minister in the Missionary Baptist church. He is known throughout the state for organizing churches and ordaining preachers and deacons.
Among the family groups attending the reunion were members of the Newsom family, the Crain family, the Womack family, the Kidd family, the Lee family, the Sanders family, the Bowen family, the McCarty family, the Parker family, the Wyrick family and the Emmons family.
