Dorotha [sic Dortha] Louise Fowler, William Peyton Carter Wed October 26

The marriage of Miss Dortha Louise Fowler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Fowler, and William Peyton Carter, son of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Carter, was solemnized Tuesday, October 26 at nine o'clock in the morning at the First Methodist church. The Rev. Dan Dawson officiated at the single ring ceremony, and the vows were exchanged to the strains of soft music.

Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Harold Booth played Shubert's “Serenade” as an organ solo, and accompanied Miss Helen Chaddick who sang Liszt's “Liebestraum.” The bridal party entered to the strains of the “Bridal Chorus” from “Lohengrin" by Wagner.

The church was beautifully decorated with a profusion of white and lavendar [sic lavender] chrysanthemums, ferns and palms.

Mrs. Clarence Day was the matron of honor, and Mr. J. A. Hardin was the best man.

The bride entered with her father who gave her in marriage. She wore a wool ensemble in winter harvest shade and brown accessories, and for “something old" she carried her mother's wedding handerchief [sic handkerchief].

After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Carter left for their wedding trip to Hot Springs, Ark. Upon their return, they will be at home at 310 Rutherford.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Carter, John Carter and S. P. Guier of Coushatta; Mesdames W. B. Bailey and L. Rickerson of Winnfield; Miss M. L. Raywinkle of Greenwood, and Mrs. Joe R. Miller of Minden.
