Miss Hanes, J. B. Hoover United in Simple Ceremony
FREDERICK (Special) -- Miss Barbara Gayle Hanes and J. Bruce Hoover pledged nuptials at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Hanes, northwest of Manitou. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Hoover, also of Manitou.
Only members of the immediate families attended the simple double-ring ceremony conducted by Wilbur Dennis, minister of the Tipton Church of Christ.
The couple stood beneath an archway of greenery and chrysanthemums topped with white wedding bells and ribbons. Majestic daisies and pink roses completed the setting.
The only attendant was Julia Hanes, youngest sister of the bride, who carried the rings.
Gown of Organdy
The bride wore a dress of white embroidered organdy. Scallops outlined the boat neckline of the fitted bodice and the hemline of a full skirt.
Her veil was attached to a seed pearl crown, and she carried white orchids and a 100-year-old handkerchief which had been used in family weddings since her great-grandmother used it in her own wedding.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Hanes selected a pink cotton dress and pink accessories. Her corsage was of pink carnations. The bridegroom's mother chose a black and white dress and black accessories, and wore white carnations.
Following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Hanes were hosts at a wedding dinner at Mitchell's restaurant in Frederick.
Hearts Interlocked
The bridal cake was interlocking hearts trimmed with pink roses and mounted on a white base edged with white net ruffles and rosebud clusters. It was prepared by Mrs. Carroll Hanes Sr. and Mrs. Dawson Staggs, aunts of the bride, and Mrs. L. A. Todd, a cousin.
The bridal couple left for a wedding trip in Texas.
Mrs. Hoover graduated from Tipton high school in 1959 and attended Oklahoma Christian college, Oklahoma City, and Oklahoma State university, Stillwater.
Her husband graduated in 1957 from Laing high school and from Laing high school and from Cameron college in 1959. He will graduate from OSU in January, 1962, with a mathematics major.
