Anna Muriel Martin Becomes The Bride of James B. Woods

A lovely, early spring wedding took place Saturday evening at the First Baptist church, Yuma, when Miss Anna Muriel Martin became the bride of James B. Woods.

The Rev. John V. Speering performed the double-ring rites at 7:30, in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Martin, Yuma. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Woods of Muncie, Ind.

The church was decorated with baskets of white stock and candelabra. Soloists were Mrs. Kathleen Cooper who chose, ``It Was Heaven's Grace that Made Thee Mine.'' and at the prayer, ``O, Jesus, We Have Promised,'' and Kent Smith, baritone, who sang ``Because.'' Mrs. Clara Culver was organist who accompanied the singers and played traditional nuptial music.

Mr. Martin gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a white satin gown with net yoke. The basque waist was buttoned down the back. The sleeves were long and came to points at the hands. The full skirt fell into a long train. Her veil of illusion was held with a net and lace headpiece, and she carried white orchids on a white Bible. Her jewelry was an heirloom bracelet from the groom's family.

Miss Florine Martin attended her sister as maid of honor. She wore a pink dress of net and lace, the bodice of which was sivied with a lace jacket. She carried a nosegay bouquet of pink carnations.

The bridesmaids were Grace Mullinix [sic Mullenix] and Francis Ollerton, cousins of the bride, and Janet Williams and Edith Garrison. They wore blue dresses of net and lace with lace jackets and carried nosegay bouquets of pink carnations.

The flower girls, cousins of the bride were Martha Breech and Pamela Binham. They were pretty in yellow gowns and blue carnation corsages. They carried white baskets with yellow and blue streamers.

Cousin of the bride, Chris Burkett was ring-bearer.

The candlelighters were cousins of the bride, Miss Linda Myers and Judy Breech. Each was dressed in pale green and wore yellow carnation corsages.

The bride's mother chose a gray dress and pink accessories, complemented with a corsage of pink carnations.

The bridegroom's attendants were Bobby Davis, best man, Lewis Montgomery, Bobby Blankenship, Dick Rautenberg and Bob Gallo.

After the ceremony a reception was held in the church recreation room. Mrs. John Denton presided at the cake; Mrs. Eugene Burkett, the punch bowl; Mr. C. G. Roper, the guestbook; and Mrs. Marvin Tedrow, the gifts.

Following a honeymoon to the coast, the newlyweds will make a home at 844 6th Ave., Yuma. For travelling, the bride chose a suit of pink and blue tweed and navy blue accessories.

The bride is a graduate of Yuma Union High School and spent one year at Bob Jones university, Greenville, S.C. She was active in young people's work while attending college, and at present in the First Baptist church.

The bridegroom graduated from Muncie, Ind. high school after which he entered the Air Force.

Out-of-town guests here for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Butterfield and son, of San Diego, Calif.; Wesley Grimes, Oxnard Air Force Base; Miss Mary Lou Rogers, Compton, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Baily Ray Denton, Eldorado, Okla.; Miss Janet Williams, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and Miss Edith Garrison, Phoenix.
